Nick groaned in annoyance.
It wasn’t like Burger Bot was going to miss the food! So when he’d snatched it when a customer hadn’t been looking it shouldn’t have been a big deal! But of course, the robots inside hadn’t seen it that way. Instead they’d called in the cops - again, probably knew his face to well by now and remembered that damn missing persons flyer that continued to pester him.
That was OK though, Nick was ready to give them a chase, again.
Making sure not to mow into any of the other citizens. Keeping an eye over his shoulder as the officers gave their chase. “C’mon guys. This is just getting embarrassing,” he explained with a cheeky grin. Noticing a few had actually lost their breath. “Don’t you have to stop Angry Archer from another robbery or something? It’s literally just one Kid Bot Meal.”
He didn’t wait to listen to their reply. Instead kicking down a fire escape and climbing it. That’d keep them a while he figured as he pulled the ladder back up.
He was quick to head to the roof, then over to the escape on the other side. By which time he knew he’d lost the cops, who hadn’t seemed to be following him anymore. He hopped the last two steps down and smirked as he started down the dark Detroit street. It was mostly quiet that night, meaning he could enjoy his burger in peace.
Taking a bite, he shook his head. “That’s Nick 78, cops 0.”
Though he wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep it up.

Nick wasn't the only one who was out and about this evening.
Hot Shot had spent the afternoon scouting around the city of Detroit. It was weird being on Earth and not on Cybertron or even Athenia, but while the roadways were a complete mess with strange rules he hadn't quite figured out (or even wanted to) he had to admit Earth wasn't the worst thing ever. It was nice to speed around when the organics and their Cybertronian-like vehicles weren't in the way. That was the part that had him the most confused. He could barely tell who was Cybertronian and who was just a normal Earth car! Still, at least the Earth cars looked pretty sweet.
He was supposed to be surveying the area and getting used to his surroundings so he could send his feedback back to Rodimus and the rest of Team Athenia, but it wasn't easy to stay focused on his mission. He wanted to do sick stunts in both vehicle mode and in bot mode. Apparently humans had this thing they called parkour and he thought it was the coolest thing ever. Still, Rodimus would probably be mad at him for getting crazy.. and if not Rodimus then Red Alert. That femme seriously needed to lighten up. Maybe a night out or something would get her to relax and just enjoy the moment rather than being so heavily focused on whatever it was she was working on at that specific moment.
In a rare moment he reasoned with himself to wait on the parkour, but instead a different urge kicked in as he went down an alleyway finding some metal bins just sitting there.. practically begging to be smelted. Hot Shot grinned to himself as he switched to bot mode, powering up his torches as flames shot out and engulfed the bins. The light reflecting off the buildings wouldn't be terribly hard to miss, but Hot Shot was just too focused on melting the bins before him. It'd been too long since he'd done something like this anyway, so it was good to get it out of his system.

Nick kind of jumped out of his skin.
Was that a fire he was smelling? Really? At this time of the night? On one hand, he might have ignored it at this time of night. But on the other it was literally right outside the factory that he had created his neat little hideout in, so the thought it may be burning down? Did alarm him.
So he picked up his pace immediately.
He only relatively relaxed when he saw it was small and was halfway through getting there when he saw a Cybertronian…. Melting trash cans… What the heck? One part of him through my it was so cool he could do that. But on the other… How random and why here!? “Whoa radical!” He spouted without thinking it through. “How did you do that!?”

Hot Shot didn't hear the human coming over the flames he emitted from his flamethrowers. He couldn't help but stand there and grin as the bins slowly reduced to liquid metal, powering them down when the deed was done. Dusting off his servos, he heard the child speak with such glee. "I know right?! Best work I've done in a deca-cycle."
And that's when he made the mistake of turning around. There Nick stood, the organic he was.
"WHOA!"
Immediately Hot Shot jumped back, staring at the human like he'd seen a ghost. He didn't know if Sentinel Prime's constant prattling of how disgusting organics were and if they could melt through one's armor with their secretions, but while Hot Shot was somewhat curious to test that theory at the same time he didn't want to frag around and find out later. Or did he? He went between wondering if he should be afraid of the organic or poking at it to see if the rumors were true. It was such a hard decision. Either way, did he really wanna deal with decontamination? Red Alert would likely have a fit, but then again when didn't she?
"Look I think I can do enough melting for the both of us, 'k? I don't think there's enough bins here for you to melt with your, uhh.. fluids. Whatever you call 'em."

Nick tilted his head and couldn’t help but look surprised,
Was he afraid of him? Holy crap, this dude was afraid of him! That was a kick, especially when he was well underweight and short. But he guessed that the mech had probably never run into a human this close just going off his reaction. “Hey, chill out. I don’t know what you’re going on about but I definitely can’t melt anything,” Nick noted rather pointedly. “If I could I sure wouldn’t be gawking at you melting down a trash can.”
He did however, thumb toward the nearby factory he called home at this point. “Melt as much as you want by the way. Just be careful, OK? I live in there and I don’t want to go back to my previous arrangements.” Which has been a cardboard box on 5th. “So you don’t burn it down - and show me how you did that and you’re cool.”
He decided to pipe up rather excitedly. “I’m Nick by the way! You’re one of the new Bots in town right?” He asked, taking him in closer he looked thoughtfully. “I heard about you guys. Came all the way from Cybertron. But I haven’t read up on you yet…”

Scared? Oh heck no. Hot Shot wasn't scared of this little organic at all. The guy had just caught him off guard, and besides even if it was true that they could melt things with their bodily fluids Hot Shot could melt him just a little bit faster.
As the kid talked, the pyrotechnician raised an optic ridge. "I guess you've gotta point, but that's not what they're saying on Cybertron. They say all organics are gross and can do stuff like that.. though I guess you seem kinda chill." Though at the same time Nick telling him not to melt something only made him kinda wanna do it a little more? He wouldn't actually do it, but when something was off limits it only made a bot do it anyway. Still, it seemed like the kid wanted to know just how he'd managed to melt that bin which only made Hot Shot grin. Glancing around he spotted a large cushiony thing: a mattress as humans would know it. It was pretty banged up, leaning against a couple more trash bins. Raising just a single arm, Hot Shot powered up his torch and almost comedically the mattress went up in flames before quickly being reduced to a pile of ash.
"I dunno what you mean by cool. I'm hot. Hot Shot, in fact."
So the kid's name was Nick and apparently he knew about the Autobots though not about he himself. Well that was a crime that he was gonna have to fix as he scoffed, practically offended. "Well you're gonna! I'm part of Team Athenia led by Rodimus Prime and I'm the team's pyrotechnician. What about you though, Nick? What do you do?"

Nick crossed his arms.
They said what about humans? What kind of weird enyclopedia were they reading from? Then again, he also knew that sometimes fear propoganda was a thing… It always had been as long as humanity was around after all. “Well, Cybertron got it wrong. But humans aren’t saints about you guys either,” He explained. “After all, you should see the anti-Autobot rallies here.”
Hot Shot? OK that was an easy one to remember.
Wait a minute, what did he do? Well, first of all, Nick tried not to freak out internally about the fact he’d just set his mattress on fire. But he wasn’t about to show it too much, after all, he had to play it cool with this guy or look like a real dork. “I can, uh… See where you get your name,” He explained. “Pretty literal.”
What did he do!? Oh snap. What did he say? He was going to look like an ant if he said he was just some homeless kid! But what did he say? A small, mischievous part of him had a thought based on what Hot Shot seemed not to know… which was a lot about Earth.
“Oh! I’m actually… The new human abassador to Autobot’s that are new to Earth!” god that was a mouthful he realized. “It’s funny you found me because technically I should be finding YOU!”
God he hoped he bought that. Maybe it’d even be an in if no one actually questioned it.
